Medical Education in Karnataka is governed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy and other paramedical courses in Karnataka come under the purview of RGUHS.

The objective of the university is to upgrade standards of teaching, research, publication and dissemination of knowledge in all branches of health sciences and bring all health science institutions under one umbrella. About 13,000 under graduate and 2000 post graduate students have admitted into different faculties of health science from this university every year.
